India Shining? Nah! India Burning!

Mumbai Under Terror Attack

Mumbai Rocked By Deadly Attacks

A similar tone of shock, anger and frustration follows in every news channel. Mumbai has yet again been the 'scapegoat' of sorts... and we never learn. When I say 'we' I don't mean only the Intelligence but our politicians too. After countless blasts in the country in the past few months it is the same shock and anger we read on our television sets and newspapers. It is almost surprising if there are no terrorists on a shooting spree or there has not been a bomb blast in any part of India. It is a part of our routine now, listening to a handful of brainwashed fanatics talking about 'holy war' and that they are doing the 'work of God'. Who God? What God? Over the years that word has lost its meaning in my life.

The picture says it all

And here I see the politicians not ready to even apologise to the public for their incompetence. Instead, the opposition goes on air blaming the government and they retaliate by quoting the Kargil war and how bad the security was when they were in power (?!!) If only I could express in words what I think about what they say. Calling it bullshit is being very kind and I don't see how the families who lost their loved ones would pardon their existence. And they have the audacity to point fingers at each other after people gave their lives for their blunder. Tomorrow anybody will come with an AK-47 and a bag full of hand grenades and there is nothing we can do except run for cover?! What the hell are they thinking? Hold on.. I don't know if they even think... so that is a very invalid question. They don't care a hoot as long as they are nice and cozy in their homes with Z-category security while others are killed like insects; it sums up to just that. They promise a million things when it comes to fighting terrorists and what have they done so far? I suppose they will justify that they have spent an astronomical amount over the issue... I m sure one half of which will go unaccounted for and the other half will go in setting up a committee talking whatever and then that's the end of it. Why blame Pakistan when we are not able to keep up the security? They may be sheltering terrorists but what have we done to keep our country secure? Today they came by boat, tomorrow they will come with a warship! The question is ''Are we READY?" We don't even have enough bullet-proof vests for crying out loud! I think Shobha De's words are reverberating in everyone's thoughts now, "Enough is enough!". Not just Mumbai, not just India, but the whole world is mourning today and if nothing concrete is done those handful of beasts will be enough to sacrifice the country to chaos and bloodbath. No Mr Politician, I am not gonna be calm and put my faith in you because whatever you have done in the years after independence amounts to nothing! Don't you dare tell us that we should be resilient because you just talk and your words would never sound more hollow when you go all politically correct. Government's Work is God's Work ... ?! If that is God's work then thank God I am an atheist.

The Road

There is a road
Long and wide
That reaches the sky
I don’t know where it goes
There is a road
That twists and turns
Curiosity burns
I wonder where it goes
Every night I watch the moon light up the road
None dared to tread and why, no one is sure
So I walk on the path for answers which were never questioned before
I walk to see if I could find my way home
I am on the road
That is long and wide
And I go where I want to go

Pictures From The City

Alright, for those who don't know where I am from... Bangalore (now renamed to Bengaluru.. or Bengalooru... for reasons no sane person can understand.. ever!) the city where one can see overlapping of cultures, a place for all the IT giants, ever increeeeeeeeeeeeasing population, potholes, accidents, garbage, etc.. a city where night life is banned because authorities feel that it will reduce the crime rate, and flyovers are built just for the sake of it (we have nitwits for politicians!), speaking of flyovers this is the only city in the entire world that has a traffic police to man a flyover! Am I proud or what!
Here are few pictures from my city ... that caught my eye and swept me off my feet! (what do you think I would do if I lost my breath laughing)

Hmmmmm...... one sheep too many

To dublicate or to duplicate? That sure is a tough question!

er... should I hire a translator? I think I'll save my money for something else

umm.. lets see .. now... lessi? coctail anyone? :P

I feel this is a prize winner... the people are so heeding to the request... definitely not 'through'ing garbage here. Where do you get to see so much honesty these days? (They never are through with garbage unfortunately)

Warning all golfers...

Show Me, Rose

Show me your flame, rose
That burns with such melting beauty
And a charm that draws eyes and smiles alike
So carelessly, gracefully
Show me how you bloom, rose
That seizes the soul of every man
Adorned by pearls of the morning dew
And a solitary scent of sinful vitality
Show me how you capture a woman’s heart, rose
Show me how you make me surrender
With a brilliance that cease with time
You pour in me drops of eternity
Hands that hold you blush timidly
When those petals audaciously steal a kiss
The skies bow to you, the epitome of love
Of undying candour and endless magnificence

Cloud

I look around and see so clear
Visions smudged and pains that smear
And in the deathless night
I watch your cosmic wink

I feel myself sink into me
Unheard voices waking with a scream
Space and time lie down here
Where no soul stirs a thing

Invisible walls stretch to the infinite sky
Like tidal waves frozen on the sands of time
Words unspoken, thoughts mercilessly spared
A million imaginations shape me under your colourful blink

Oh dear stars, I am but a passing cloud
And yet you hear every word I speak, every whisper I shout

Rain

Lost in the rain
Eyes stare at infinity

Through the heavenly drops
See the lonely cloud pour its heart out

Behind curtains of twinkling pearls
The trees stand with open arms
Reaching out to the unknown
So quiet, so still, so desperately patient

See the wind give birth to movement
Invisible hands shape smooth and sensuous

How thee captivate my every breath
How thee control every pore on my skin

And I see through shattered glass and broken dreams
Eyes stare at infinity

A Rain To Remember

Walking through empty halls
I find myself staring at the window
Where the sunlight dissolves into a vortex of dust and stagnation
And the world seems to crawl inside
Into my thoughts, into my eyes
Sitting on the window sill
I see another day pass by
And I wait in mute expectation
No care if anybody else would
To see if the cold winds bring with her
The fragrance of the fire within and the earth without
I look at the grey of the fading horizon
Wanting my exiled wishes to revolt
Waiting to break free from the self
And fall into the deepest skies

“Maybe I am scared but I know it feels right
Maybe I am quiet but look at my eyes
Their aplomb holds a legendary glow
That annihilates the scorn of uncertainty
Within the skin flows a passion in plenitude
Spotted by the reminiscences of your every move
Your every word that drowned me to dreaming
Every touch that drew away my might”

Echoing a dream of tidal waves and muddy feet
A shy gaze and a smile that melts the heavens
And I am answerable to this ephemeral glance
That ceaselessly commands my breath and my being

The vagrant soul knows not where he treads
The vacuous does not bother
“Don’t think I am strange to me oh unearthly ones
If you would witness something you never can conceive”

It is raining tonight
For the clouds fail to endure the overbearing fall
They grumble and shimmer and viciously churn
To relive the point of no return

A Warrior’s Dream

The sun was at its peak
Spitting fire on the surface of the earth
And in the middle of the battlefield
Stood the strong warrior
Fearlessly facing the enemy’s swords
Spears and arrows showering on him
All of them thirsty for his blood
He faces them all
With only a shield to defend himself with
Seeing the corpse of his fellowmen
And their lives oozing out of the wounds
The blood of these brave men glittering in the sun
He silently wished for his enemy’s ill luck
And when the war is won
And the enemies are perished
He goes back home
Silently kicking the dust
Dreaming of conquering the world
Dreaming of becoming a God, a legend
A God who waged wars to find peace

I Wonder…

I wonder why the day disappears
and the night comes with pointed spears
I wonder why the sun is hot
and the moon, a silver dot
I wonder why the stars twinkle
It’s colors so warm and simple
I wonder why the river flows
I wonder which way it goes
I wonder why the wind blows
Whispering things no one knows
I wonder why the clouds float
Sailing aimlessly, like a wrecked boat
I wonder why the birds fly
Under the endless, blue sky
I wonder why it rains
I wonder if it washes off all my pains
I wonder why sadness comes after happiness
Leading me to a trail of menace
I wonder why there is terror
I wonder why there is always a human error
I wonder why there is war unleashed
Feeding death a bloody feast
I wonder why there is hatred around
With hearts so empty and minds unsound
I wonder why people like to live in illusions
Eyes wide open but with so narrow visions
I wonder why people feel lonely
When there is no reason to be
I wonder why we forget to smile
I wonder why we always think of our troubles and cry out a Nile
I wonder why we cannot stay happy with what we have
But we keep asking for more and more every time
I wonder why we try to race against time
I wonder why we can’t live in simple bread and wine
I wonder why people are curious about others
I wonder why they cannot stay to themselves
I wonder why death is our only mortal fear
That leaves nothing but memories of pain and tears
I wonder …

A Solitary Night

The day had finally gone away
With just a fleeting glimpse of the ocean so blue
Giving its empire to the night
Filling the space with sweet smell of dew

One such night I stood by the sea
Over the rocks, under the majestic sky
Watching the waves crashing on the rocks below
Desperately trying to get to the shore
Curious to know what’s on the other side
I saw the surf retreating and coming back again
Playing with the gravel with deliberate innocence
Stirring the sand into a beautiful dance

The sky opened up to the Milky Way
Stretched across the horizon
Revealing a million stars watching over me
Twinkling colors bright and shiny

The moon gently floating over the sea
Dressed like the night’s queen
The midnight flower welcoming her with glee
What a lovely sight it was to see

One such night I stood by the sea
Forgetting the loneliness growing inside me
The love and care I craved for
I found them all here
I found my treasure
In the vaults of a solitary night
